Woman Pours Coffee Over Her Eggs And You Won’t Believe What Happens

There are a number of cool new coffee tricks going around: bullet-proof coffee gets you adding grain-fed butter in your morning cup of joe; this curry coffee is more for the taste than the health benefits (but it does have turmeric/ curcumin); and any number of fake Italian-sounding coffees you can order at Starbucks. But our focus is on health benefits, and there are a ton in eggs.

You’ll Never See A Starbucks Do This

Sure they can get away with astronomical prices because they give fancy sounding names to their plain coffee. But what makes Starbucks so different from the cup of coffee you make at home? Nothing. Maybe some added pompousness, and a few dollars more, but for a few ingredients more you could be making your new favorite cup of coffee.

Kaisermelange – just as tough to say as some Starbucks orders – is an Austrian coffee drink made with honey and egg yolk.

That’s right. Egg yolk.

And the Kaisermelange is just one of many coffee recipes from around the world that puts a twist on what Americans think of as a cup of coffee.

How To Make The Kaisermelange

Ingredients

  • Eggs
  • Honey (2 tbsp)
  • Coffee

Separate an egg yolk into an empty cup and add 2 tablespoons of honey. Slowly add and whisk the coffee into the cup.

That’s it. Easier than making (or ordering) a Double Grande Upside-Down Brownie Macchiato. Healthier too. Eggs are full of vitamins A, D, E, K, B6 and B12, and a great source of calcium. Egg yolks, which are essentially protein, will help give you more energy for the day. When combined with coffee, you’ll feel unstoppable.

Do You Folks Like Yolks?

Some recipes I’ve found call for whole eggs, some just for the yolks. I prefer just the yolks because the coffee holds more of the original coffee flavoring. Egg yolks are natural emulsifiers, which means they help mix things together and keep them together. An egg yolk can turn lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper, into a salad dressing. When you add egg yolk to coffee, it not only adds much needed protein to start your day, but it helps to release any other ingredients’ health benefits.

To Sweeten:

Honey - instead of nasty refined sugar, use honey as a natural sweetener. You’ll get the lovely flavor and that extra kick to wake you up in the morning, or keep you going through the afternoon lull.

Maple syrup - even tastier than honey, maple syrup can really add an unexpected flavor to your coffee. This may be a Sunday morning kind of treat.

To Taste:

Turmeric - anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, but not anti-coffee. Turmeric will certainly spice up your coffee, and because its active compound (curcumin) is fat-soluble, an egg yolk in your coffee is just the trick.

Cinnamon - not only adds flavor, but helps the body be more receptive to insulin, helping you break down sugars into useable energy. Cinnamon is the perfect flavor for your perfect coffee.

Vanilla - mostly for flavor, vanilla works well with cinnamon, and may even have healthy properties of its own.

To stay Bulletproof:

Butter - grain-fed butter is a great additive to coffee. If you combine that with the egg yolk trick, you’ll feel as if your coffee should be illegal. It will have your body running like a well-oiled machine.

Coconut-oil - the health benefits to coconut-oil are innumerable. Adding healthy fats to your coffee helps your body absorb the energy from your coffee. And the egg yolk you will now be putting in it.

Doesn’t caffeine kill vitamins and minerals?

Please correct your story. Bulletproof coffee is made with GRASS-fed butter, not GRAIN-fed butter. You got it exactly wrong.
