In order to prepare his cannabis oil recipe, you will need to start with one ounce of dried herb which will produce 3-4 grams of oil. . A pound of dried material will yield about two ounces of high quality oil.
IMPORTANT: be very careful when boiling solvent off since the flames are extremely flammable. Moreover, you should also avoid smoking, sparks, stove-tops, and red hot heating elements. In order to blow fumes away from, the pot, set up a fan and make sure to set it up in a well-ventilated area for whole process.
- First of all, take a plastic bucket and place the completely dry material.
- Next, dampen the material with solvent like water, 99% isopropyl alcohol, butane, pure naphtha and ether. In order to extract the THC from one pound, you need 2 gallons of solvent and 500 ml are enough for an ounce.
- Use a stick of untreated wood in order to crush the plant material. Even though the material will be damp, it will still be pretty easy to crush up since it it very dry.

- Discard the twice washed plant material.
- Take a clean container and pour the solvent oil mixture in it through a coffee filter.
- Boil the solvent off: in order to boil the solvent off nicely, use a rice cooker which will also hold over a half a gallon of solvent mixture. CAUTION: avoid stove-tops, red hot elements, sparks, cigarettes and open flames as the fumes are extremely flammable.
- Add ¾ of solvent in rice cooker and turn on high heat, but remember to do this in a well-ventilated area and set up a fan in order to carry the solvent fumes away. Since solvent evaporates, continue adding the mixture to cooker until you have added it all.
- In the end, as the level in the rice cooker decreases, make sure to add several drops of water which will help to release the solvent residue, as well as to protect the oil from too much heat.
- When you are left with one inch of solvent-water mixture in the rice cooker, make sure to put on your oven mitts, pick up the unit and swirl the contents until the solvent has finished boiling off.
- Once the solvent Is boiled, turn the cooker to low heat, and make sure that the oil does not reach over 290˚ F or 140˚ C.
- After that, remove the pot which contains the oil from the rice cooker. Gently pour the oil into a stainless steel container
- You should then place the stainless steel container in a dehydrator or just put in on a gentle heating device like coffee warmer. After several hours, both water and volatile terpenes will be evaporated from the oil. When there is no longer any surface activity on the oil, it is ready for use.
- Take plastic syringe in order to suck the oil up because it will make the oil easy to dispense. Once completely cold, the oil will have thick grease consistency.
