Skin tags can be a cosmetic nuisance and make us self-conscious while in public.
Though they are commonly harmless, they can sometimes be the result of an underlying medical issue, so please see your doctor if you have any skin tags.
If everything is medically sound at your next check-up, you might be interested in knowing the safe home remedies to rid yourself of a skin tag. No surgery required!
1. Tea Tree Oil
Apply tea tree oil 3 times a day and watch as this essential dries up the skin tag. After a while, it will fall right off.
2. Garlic
Tape a slice of garlic to the top of your skin tag in the morning. Allow it to work all day, replacing it every few hours with a fresh slice.
Before you go to bed, remove and rinse your skin. Do this for 3 days. The skin tag should fall off by then, if not, you may repeat treatment after a few days.
3. Aspirin
Believe it or not, crushed up aspirin will actually help shrink a skin tag until it falls off. Simply apply and seal with tape.
4. Castor Oil
Make a thick mixture of baking soda and castor oil. Apply to the skin tag and continue treatment until it falls of.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar
Use a warm cloth to soften the skin tag and then apply some apple cider vinegar using a cotton ball. Leave on for 20 minutes 2-3 times a day until the skin tag disappears.
6. Frankincense Oil
This essential oil is great in ridding skin tags, but test a patch of your skin first as it’s an extremely strong oil.
If all is good, apply the frankincense oil directly to the skin tag. The skin tag will fall off within 1-2 months.
7. Asphyxiation
Cutting off the oxygen to a skin tag is one of the best ways to remove it. Apply some nail polish or a band aid to the skin tag. Be sure the seal is air tight, or else this treatment won’t work. The skin tag should fall off within 8-10 days.
8. Thread
Similar to asphyxiation, tying a thread around the skin tag will help cut off its oxygen supply.
Tie a piece of thread around the skin tag and it will fall off within a week.
Warning: this can be a painful procedure and may irritate surrounding skin, though there will be no damage.
9. Baking Soda
Create a warm mixture of water and baking soda. Apply the paste several times a day until the skin tag falls off.
10. Cutting
This simple procedure requires a lot of attention and care, although it is the fastest way to remove a skin tag.
Apply ice to the skin tag and the area around it for at least 10-15 minutes. Use sterile scissors to cut off the skin tag, as close to the close as possible.
Apply antiseptic cream or salt to the wound to avoid infection.
